Overall, the average daily number of available beds continues to decrease, falling by 0.7% from 186,091 in 2000-01 to 184,871 in 2001-02.
In the general & acute sector (acute plus geriatric), the average daily number of available beds increased by 0.6% from 135,794 in 2000-01 to 136,583 in 2001-02.
