Information relates only to home help and home care services purchased or provided by local authorities.  Services commissioned by the independent sector (i.e. voluntary or private) without local authority involvement are not covered.

Data are for a sample week each year in September.

Contact hours are the total number of staff hours spent in contact with or directly serving the client(s).

Data are collected on households receiving services - a household may include more than one client.
