Background information
The Community  Dental Service (CDS) runs different programmes which are set up to check the oral health of the community.
These programmes are as follows:-
Screening programmes:- this is the process by which CDS covers a large population using simple tests to identify individuals who require dental care including counselling and advice.
Dental Health Education and Preventive programmes - this is the process by which sub-groups of the population are educated and motivated to improve dental behaviour.
The CDS is responsible for providing dental care to children, nursing and pregnant women, disabled people and any patient who would not otherwise receive treatment through the General Dental Service.
